LOOKING FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE?

TEENS IN GRADES SIX THROUGH TWELVE CAN NOW EARN COMMUNITY SERVICE CREDIT BY READING BOOKS AND SUBMITTING A REVIEW, WHICH WILL BE POSTED ON OUR WEBSITE.

GUIDELINES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

·       You must be in grades six through twelve to submit a review.

·       Teens can review three books a month.

·       Each review will be worth three community service hours.

·       The book must be a young adult title, either fiction or non-fiction.  We would prefer that the book be published within the last twelve months, but it is not required.

·       Submissions will be reviewed by the Teen Department before community service is awarded.  We reserve the right to deny community service credit if we do not find the review to be acceptable.  We may also ask the reviewer to expand upon the review and resubmit it.  Upon acceptance, you will receive your community service certificate.

YOUR BOOK REVIEW SHOULD INCLUDE:

1.     Your first and last name.

2.     Your grade – choice of 6 through 12

3.     Your email address

4.     Your telephone number

5.     The book title

6.     The author’s name

7.     Whether it is fiction or non-fiction

8.     The genre (hist. fiction, romance, horror, sci-fi, etc.)

9.     Your rating:  1-5 with 1 being the lowest

10.   Plot summary.  Describe the book in five or more sentences.  No spoilers, please!

11.   Comments:  What was your favorite and least favorite part of the book and why.
