She gets some help from a guy named Peter who works for the doctor who signed baby Sara’s paperwork to be sent to Canada. Her tireless and fierce efforts led her to biological parents who suffered a lot in the concentration camps in Germany. Towards the end, she gets to know a shocking information about Dr. Pearlman. In the end, she visits her mother's grave and decides to stay in Germany for a little longer.

What did you think about the book?:

It was an emotional roller coaster. There were so many moments in the book when the readers feel sorry for her sometimes and feel like cheering for her other times. The book uses a historical context to show how horribly the Jewish people were treated in concentration camps during the regime of Adolf Hitler. One of my favorite part was Sara putting rocks on her mother's grave to pay respect. I absolutely loved the moment when Sara tries to find someone in the town to tell her about concentration camps and her mother but no one wants to tell her anything as they don’t want to get involved. She immediately realizes how she has been ignoring every mistake of her ex-boyfriend Luke who treated others horribly. Overall, the book was a nice read as the author portrayed the characters with a realistic approach. Sara’s determination to succeed even during unfavorable conditions was the highlight of the story.

The story is based on true events, and they each give vivid and accurate portrayals of the struggle's women works faced during this time period.

What did you think about the book?:

I thought this book was wonderful as it told this important historical event from three different perspectives and the way in which the book is written in 1st person for every individual character unlike 3rd person makes it much easier to understand and to be drawn into. It was a beautifully told story that allowed for all characters to shine and forced me to create a personal connection with them. By the end of the book, you will have array of emotions that leave you wanting a little more and since the book is based on true events everything that happens in the book is more heartfelt. Overall, this book was an extremely positive experience and I highly recommend it!

the house
Author:Christina Lauren

Plot Summary:

in "the house" we meet Delilah Blue who has just come back home from her private school, saint Benedict's. Delilah reunites with the person who she has always been fascinated with and who she has had a long time crush on, Gavin Timothy. Gavin is dark, mysterious and isolated all these qualities draw Delilah right to him. after a while Delilah finally can say that he is her but with him comes the house, one of the many things that make Gavin more mysterious. The house is alive, every aspect of it protects Gavin. the house stops at nothing to protect him. the house takes a hatred to Delilah, the only thing Gavin loves than the house. Gavin will have to pick either Delilah or the house who had always protected him.Delilah stops at nothing trying to figure out the secret to the house a secret it had locked away years ago.

What did you think about the book?:

I think the book is greatly written. The suspense and romance makes the book so much more exciting. My favorite part of the book is when Delilah first comes to the house and dances around with Gavin. It is the phrase " the calm before the storm" . i love this scene because we see how much Delilah means to Gavin and how difficult it will be to leave the house. My least favorite part is when Gavin had the thought that Delilah had hurt herself and that the house didn't hurt her when she told him it did. This part makes me want to scream at Gavin for thinking that.
The Bell Jar
Author:Sylvia Plath

Plot Summary:

This novel follows Esther, a young college girl who has recently won a contest through a magazine for her modelling that has allowed her to vacation in New York City. She finds that although the other girls on her trip are having the times of their lives, she often feels uninterested and is not sure what direction she wants to go in career-wise. While one of her closest friends, Doreen, gets caught up with a man called Lenny, Esther ends up getting food poisoning, dancing with a man named Marco who makes unwanted advances on her, and contemplates on how her life is like a fig tree. Overwhelmed with the atmosphere of the city, she returns home early from the trip and finds out she has been rejected admittance into a summer school program focusing on English, her major. This slowly sets Esther into a deep depression, and she loses motivation for everything. She becomes suicidal, and almost is successful with her attempt, but wakes up in a hospital. She is then transferred into a private mental asylum, where she is treated well and seems to be improving. She notices that it is like she is in a bell jar, no matter where she was she still had that sour air around her, but it was slowing being lifted up. Esther reflects that one day the bell jar may come down again, but by the end of the book feels hopeful about her future outside of the asylum.

What did you think about the book?:

I thought this book was incredible. Plath did a great job describing the inner workings of Esther's mind. It seemed confusing and scattered at times, but I felt like I was taking a look into Esther's disorganized thoughts while reading this. I was very satisfied with the ending of this novel, as I was somewhat expecting Esther to get worse and possibly be successful in suicide. I am really glad it ended the way it did, with Esther entering her interview on exiting the asylum, as both the reader and the surrounding characters could see the mental improvements she had endured. I think this novel is a great coming of age book, specifically for people who may struggle with depression, as it shows the reality that although there may be very bad times, the "bell jar" can always be lifted. I also thought the asides about Esther's child in the beginning of the book were very interesting, although they were never called back to. We can infer that Esther went on to live a longer life and had a child, despite her questions about her ability to be a mother towards the end of the book. Overall, I found this book to be very enjoyable and inspirational.

What did you think about the book?:

I thought this book was amazing, the read was long, in depth and enjoyable. The author them self has such a way with words, philosophy and overall a general sense of free falling into the story itself. The imagery, the scents, everything was there. The story at some points that story maybe became a bit much or dreary, but it all played a role overall. I would say to please give it a read, not only to support but I highly believe that this book was something that made me look at others differently, a different perspective and way of life.

1984

Secondly, he buys a coral paperweight and rents out a room. Lastly, he has a love affair with a mysterious dark-haired girl. All these offenses against the Party are bound to fail but Winston still tries in hopes to be happy and lead a revolution for future generations.

What did you think about the book?:

Personally, I loved this book. 1984 is a unique and realistic book that serves as a warning sign on the nature of a totalitarian government. George Orwell takes concepts of technology from Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and uses political concepts to really explain the consequences of living under a controlling government. It teaches us to be strong citizens and avoid electing officials who will make society the worst place to live in. The book did not end on a happy note but the realistic ending made me realize that the world is a harsh place to live in.
